That's what the International Cycling Union (UCI) and the World
Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) are apparently busy developing now. They plan
to collect blood samples from all professional riders to create a
medical profile that will then be compared to the data registered in
doping tests. More
Cyclists in next year's Giro d'Italia will reportedly be required to produce a biological passport, the anti-doping safeguard initially proposed at a Paris summit in October. "Pursuing an objective of transparency is by now indispensable," race director Angelo Zomegnan was quoted as saying. The Paris deal with the World Anti-Doping Agency apparently allows organisers to screen the "physiological values" of athletes participating in major events. More / 2008 Giro d'Italia route map
